The main task of the NATO command is to lead the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, commanding the very high readiness joint task forces (VJTF) and - from the NATO summit in Warsaw - the enhanced forward presence forces of the alliance (eFP) on the eastern flank - Poland and the Baltic States.

During the meeting with General Marchio, the head of the Defense Ministry discussed NATO's efforts to fully protect the alliance members in the east. Mariusz Błaszczak thanked for the involvement of the Brunssum headquarters in achieving full readiness of multinational allied troops stationed in our country.

JFC Brunssum, subordinate to the Allied Command of Operations (ACO) in Mons, Belgium - one of NATO's two strategic commands - currently has two allied HQs in Poland that direct the VJTF and eFP operations in our region: Multinational Corps North-East in Szczecin and the Multinational Division North-East in Elbląg.

The necessity of close cooperation of multinational commands in Poland with the joint command in Brunssum was emphasized by both the head of the Defense Ministry and General Marchio. According to minister Mariusz Blaszczak, the reform of the command structure of NATO will be one of the main areas discussed at the July NATO Summit in Belgium. The head of the Ministry of National Defense stressed that Poland wants to continue multinational military exercises with the participation of allied forces in our country, as well as the participation of Polish soldiers in the exercises of other NATO members. The preparations for the Anakonda - 18 exercise, which will be carried out in Poland in the second half of 2018, were discussed.

General Marchio 'thanked Minister Mariusz Blaszczak for his service of Polish soldiers in NATO structures and missions. The Italian general appreciated the commitment and professionalism of Poles.
