Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz: Poland is mentioned in several places in the decisions of the Summit and this is proof how important a partner we are today.

The operational capability of the base in Redzikowo has been confirmed. It becomes not only an American system, but also a NATO one, and the declaration made today and yesterday at the NATO summit reaffirm it. This is one of Poland's successes with regards to this declaration and to the decisions of the Summit. Additionally, there were some very important items concerning Polish border. We promised that we would talk about the internationalization of the Polish border with Belarus as the eastern border of NATO, the European Union, and we did. The strategic documents adopted by the NATO summit include provisions on individual and joint border protection, said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz after the end of the NATO Summit in Washington.

Between 9th and 12th of July the Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak – Kamysz is in Washington, D.C., where he will take part in the jubilee NATO Summit which will take place on the 75th anniversary of the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty. Many issues important to the security of our country will be discussed at the Summit. The strengthening of Alliance’s defence and deterrence capabilities against potential adversaries, the enhancement of the Allied air and missile defences or the necessity for member states to increase their defence spending, as well as continuous, consistent and broad support for fighting Ukraine, shared equitably between all members – those are only a few of the matters discussed during meetings.

During the anniversary NATO Summit, held on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the strengthening NATO's capabilities in the area of deterrence and defense against potential adversaries. The topics also included the development of allied air and anti-missile defense and the need for member states to increase their defense spending. During the Summit, a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was also held.

Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz informed about the most important provisions of the declaration of the North Atlantic Alliance Summit, adopted in Washington. The document includes many points important for the security of Poland and the region, including the commitment to further develop high-readiness forces to fulfill the new NATO defense plans, the launch of the anti-missile defense base in Redzikowo and its inclusion in the NATO Defense system, and the indication that hybrid attacks by Russia and its allies and provocations on NATO's borders are a threat to the entire Alliance. Progress in creating JATEC in Bydgoszcz was also highlighted.

Speaking about the provisions contained in the declaration and supporting Ukraine, the head of the Ministry of National Defense confirmed that the NATO-Ukraine Training, Analysis and Training Center is being established in Bydgoszcz.

“Poland is mentioned in several places in the decisions of the Summit and this is proof of how important a partner we are today. (...) Poland has trained over 20,000 Ukrainian soldiers on its territory. We are the leader in Europe. We also expect greater support from the European Union” - noted the deputy prime minister.

As part of strengthening defense capabilities, on July 11 in Washington, the defense ministers of Poland, France, Germany and Italy signed a letter of intent on the development of long-range precision strike capabilities. The aim of the agreement is to establish cooperation that will enable the implementation of joint projects in this area in the future and allow for their quicker implementation.

“Another important document at the NATO summit was the letter of intent on the development of long-range precision strike capabilities. It was also signed by France, Germany, Great Britain and Italy. We will develop our key deep strike capability, and there will be further joint projects in the future, which will help fill gaps, reduce costs and shorten operational times. We are becoming stronger and stronger together in NATO” - informed the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

On Thursday, bilateral talks were also held between Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the defense ministers of Denmark, the Netherlands, Latvia and the United Kingdom.

“A moment ago, Minister Zalewski and I concluded subsequent bilateral meetings with our partners from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Great Britain. In every conversation we raise the issue of the border, we appeal and ask for support for our efforts in air defense and the protection of the Polish border” - said the head of the Ministry of National Defense after the talks.
