On 19 November this year, a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in defence ministers' format was held in Brussels, which was attended by Deputy Minister Paweł Zalewski.

The meeting addressed the issue of military support for Ukraine and the enhancement of EU defence readiness. This included an increase in the defence industries production, an improvement in resilience to hybrid threats and the development of projects designed to reinforce the security of the EU as a whole.

In advance of the meeting, Deputy Minister Paweł Zalewski highlighted the intention of EU countries to pursue joint production abilities and joint capabilities related to research and development. This is with a view to reduce the cost of producing systems and to ensure greater interoperability.

Furthermore, the ministers' attention was directed towards the European air defence shield and the development of cooperation in the field of air defence. The project entails the construction of a comprehensive air defence system, the objective of which is to safeguard the EU against threats such as aircraft, missiles and drones.

The deputy defence minister stated that the letters of intent to develop cooperation in the field of air defence, the creation of joint predictive capabilities for loitering munition and on electronic warfare had been signed as part of the project to build an air defence system for EU countries.

A meeting of the EDA Steering Board was also held in Brussels, during which current budgetary issues related to the building of defence capabilities were discussed.
