On March 2, the head of the Ministry of Defense met with executives and employees of the Military Automotive Works in Poznań.

"The agreement we concluded with our Korean partner provides technology transfer. Here in Poznań the production of, among other things, such interesting solutions as the hydropneumatic chassis, which is used in the K2 tank, will take place. This is a state-of-the-art solution. But also other components of the tank will be produced here in Poznan. We have ordered 1,000 tanks. There is a contract with South Korea for as many. 180 of these tanks will be delivered as part of the first stage. The tanks will be delivered directly from Korea. The next ones will be co-produced, and then produced right here in Poznań. I wish to strongly emphasize our high efficiency, as we started talks with Korea in May last year, and in December the first K2 tanks have already been delivered to the Polish Armed Forces, to the equipment of the 20th Mechanized Brigade, which is part of the 16th Mechanized Division, responsible for the security of northeastern Poland"

The Korean Hyundai Rotem Company and the Polish Armaments Group have agreed on the terms of industrial cooperation in the process of production, supply and service of the PL version of K2 tanks. As a result of subsequent executive agreements, it is planned to procure polonized K2 BLACK PANTHER tanks together with accompanying vehicles as based on the platform of this tank. The tanks and accompanying vehicles on a tracked chassis will be produced at the Poznan Military Automotive Works.

Deputy Prime Minister noted that later this year more K2 tanks will be transferred to the Polish Army's equipment. The head of the Ministry of Defense also stressed that this year will mark the start of their service and everything that is needed to keep the tanks, which are already on the equipment of the Polish Army, in high working order. 

"As I stated before, this year we will get more units, and then co-production and production of K2 tanks in Poland. Certainly, we are aware of the threats posed by the war in Ukraine, the threats posed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. And so we support Ukraine, but we also ensure that we strengthen the Polish Armed Forces and that we develop the Polish arms industry. Modern weapons are required to equip the Polish Military, and such weapons are, but this weaponry must also be at least serviced and repaired in Poland. But ideally, it should be produced in Poland as well."
