"I am very grateful to the Minister for the fact that we have achieved so much by working together. We have achieved a lot for security and ensuring peace - by strengthening the Polish Armed Forces and by implementing the policy of deterrence in practice. It is the decision of the Polish authorities to focus on investing in security, to strengthen the Polish Armed Forces, to develop them.(...) We are preparing the second phase of our cooperation involving the production of military equipment in Poland," said Minister M. Blaszczak. - Minister M. Blaszczak said after the conclusion of talks with the South Korean delegation.
On 31 August, talks between Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and Lee Jon-sup, Minister of Defence of South Korea, took place in Warsaw. The main topic of the talks was the further strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
The effects of this cooperation are tangible. Millions of people were able to enjoy the grand parade in Warsaw on 15 August. During this parade, modern equipment manufactured in Korea was presented. I have in mind here K2 tanks, K9 howitzers, FA-50 aircrafts (...) In the hands of Polish soldiers this equipment really is the equipment which guarantees safety.
- emphasised the head of the Ministry of Defence.
The security situation and issues of technical modernisation and further arms cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
We will jointly organise a demonstration of the Polish Armed Forces' defence capabilities at Bemowo Piskie on 17 September, as part of the 'Autumn Fire' [Polish: Jesienny Ogień] exercise. There we will be able to marvel at the effectiveness of Korean equipment in the hands of Polish crews. There, we will also be able to admire the Chunmoo, a missile system with a range of up to 300 km on Polish Jelches. Already the first copies of this weapon are in our country.
- Minister M. Blaszczak added.
In recent years, the partnership between the Polish and Korean industries has strengthened as a result of the conclusion of bilateral agreements for the supply of the Polish Armed Forces, which included K2 tanks, K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, FA-50 light combat aircraft or K239 Chunmoo multi-launchers.
Once again, I thank you for the cooperation so far, but I emphasise that there is still much to be done. This is a mutually beneficial cooperation - both for Poland and for Korea.(...) I am convinced that together we will achieve success.
- Minister Błaszczak concluded.
