PL-US missile defense cooperation

Tomasz Szatkowski, undersecretary of state in the Ministry of National Defense, held talks with the Director of the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Lieutenant General Samuel A. Greaves and with Lieutenant General Todd T. Semonite, Commander of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of cooperation related to the deployment of the US missile defense base in Redzikowo, the development of missile defense capabilities within NATO, as well as cooperation for the development of military infrastructure in connection with the presence of the US Armed Forces in Poland.

The importance of the base in Redzikowo for the security of Poland and the entire NATO was emphasized as well as further deepening of Polish-American defense cooperation. The American missile defense base in Redzikowo will provide a significant contribution to the defense of Poland and the entire European territories of NATO, including the US Armed Forces in Europe, against attack with the use of ballistic missiles. It will also be an important element of the permanent US military presence in Poland.

Poland, with the participation of the US and NATO investments, develops the military infrastructure providing appropriate conditions for the presence of US troops in Poland, thus strengthening the level of deterrence and defense of the entire NATO eastern flank.
