Poland and the Czech Republic together to strengthen security in the region

07.11.2024

- Our relations, the relations between Poland and the Czech Republic are very friendly, very good, very effective. Our countries are allies in both NATO and the European Union. However, our primary relationship is that of friends and neighbours. I am very grateful for this. The Minister will be present at our base in Łask today, where preparations are underway for the arrival of the F-35. Poland and the Czech Republic purchase the F-35 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to commence in due course. These matters have already been discussed in an advanced manner, and our own experience and the skills acquired by our pilots are being shared. It is very significant that the exchange of expertise, data and technology is occurring between our nations - stated Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak Kamysz following a meeting with the Czech Minister of Defence.

On 7th November this year W. Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence met with Jana Černochová, Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic.

- I extended my gratitude once again, on behalf of our country, the Republic of Poland, for the assistance provided by the Czech pilots who, with their helicopters stationed in Powidz, flew to Wrocław for several days during the floods and provided help. They undertook the mission together with our pilots. In recognition of their efforts to save lives and provide assistance during the floods, the pilots were awarded the Polish Army Medals yesterday. I would like to express my gratitude to them for their invaluable assistance. Furthermore, we discussed defence industries cooperation, with both parties expressing a resolute determination. We have a shared opinion on this matter and will endeavour to reinforce collaboration between the Polish and Czech defence industries. This will be discussed with our respective companies. We believe that joint initiatives should be implemented, including, for example, joint initiatives concerning the production of ammunition

- the Minister of National Defence said after the talks.

The defence-military cooperation between Poland and the Czech Republic serves as an example of the positive mutual political and economic relations between the two countries. The joint activities of the Polish and Czech armed forces, for example within the Canadian eFP group in Latvia, serve to reinforce the regional potential for deterrence and defence. Moreover, to demonstrate the readiness of Warsaw and Prague to enhance their partnership cooperation, for instance in the sphere of experience exchange encompassing technical modernisation of the army and participation in joint military exercises.

- I also presented our activities related to the protection of NATO's eastern flank and the eastern border of the European Union, including the construction of Shield East. The initial 2 km of the shield will be completed this week, in advance of National Independence Day. I invited the Czech engineering troops to collaborate. During the course of the conversation, we addressed the topic of the elections in the United States, expressing a shared view that the transatlantic relations of Poland, the Czech Republic and the United States are currently at a very high level and will remain so

- the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised.
