Polish Army Day - let's thank the soldiers for their service

“We have gathered to pay tribute to the soldiers of the Polish Army, who in 1920 repelled the invasion of Bolshevik Russia, who saved the independence of the Republic of Poland, and who also saved the freedom of Europe. But we are gathering on the Polish Army Day also to thank today's soldiers for their daily service, ”said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defense during the central celebration of the Polish Army Day in Warsaw.
On Sunday, August the 15th, as a part of the celebrations of the centenary of the Battle of Warsaw and the Polish Army Day, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Poland, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, and the commanding staff of the Armed Forces in Warsaw, a solemn Guard Change was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Welcoming the guests to the ceremony, the head of the Ministry of National Defense thanked President Andrzej Duda, the Head of the Polish Armed Forces, for his presence. “Mr. President, the Polish Army Day is an important day for the entire military family. Thank you again for your presence and I cordially invite everyone to participate in the ceremony. I would like to thank the President that will also visit one of the military picnics this afternoon, ”said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
During the ceremony, President Andrzej Duda greeted the soldiers and their families. "On the Polish Army Day, I wish you all my best wishes and success in your service to the Republic of Poland. I wish you all successes and promotions as much health and safety as possible. I wish you family warmth and all the best for your families. I wish you family joy, I wish you all the best, ”said the president.
On Sunday, the head of the Armed Forces also thanked Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, his co-workers, and commanders of the Polish army forces for the activities they undertake to modernize the army. He also expressed hope that task will be continued and developed. “Thank you for the announcement of a spectacular strengthening of our armored forces and for the future purchase of the best weapons in the world. That our soldiers could serve safely and be able to serve effectively, that they could be sure that what they are to serve and defend the homeland is the best that we could have at a given moment, ”said the president.
The soldiers of the Land Forces, Air Force, Navy, Special Forces, Inspectorate Armed Forces Support, Territorial Defense Forces, Military Police and the Warsaw Garrison Command took part in the central ceremonies in Warsaw. This year, the role of the honorary sub-unit was performed by the Polish Army Representative Company, and the musical setting was provided by the Polish Army Representative Orchestra.
During the ceremony, the so-called cannon salute from 12 salvos. F-16 fighters flew over the Piłsudski Square. President Andrzej Duda and a delegation laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and in front of the monument to Marshal Józef Piłsudski. The celebrations ended with the singing of the Polish Army Representative Song and a parade of subunits.
On the occasion of the Polish Army Day, picnics under the slogan Become a Soldier of the Republic are held in 30 localities in the country. The army also organized a picnic at Marshal Józef Piłsudski square.

After the end of the central ceremonies on the occasion of the Polish Army Day, delegations laid flowers in front of the monument commemorating the victims of the Smolensk plane crash and in front of the monument to the late president professor Lech Kaczyński.
