On Wednesday, the head of the Ministry of National Defense met with Polish soldiers serving as part of the KFOR mission in Kosovo. The meeting, which took place in the Novo Selo Base, was also attended by policemen serving as part of the EULEX mission.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense talked about the tasks of Polish soldiers, as well as about the situation in the region.

KFOR commander General S. Cuoci repeatedly emphasized the involvement of Polish soldiers in the mission and thanked for professionalism. Today, we would also like to thank you for the mission you are doing in the difficult terrain - said the head of the Defense Ministry.

The Minister also emphasized that participation in missions shows our contribution to the EU and NATO. Through our activity we show that we implement the principle of solidarity. We care for Poland's security, but also for the world's security.

The meeting at the Novo Selo base was also an opportunity to award soldiers with medals for exemplary military service.

At the end of the ceremony, the head of the Ministry of National Defense lit a candle in front of the monument commemorating Polish soldiers who lost their lives in the Balkans.

The Polish Military Contingent KFOR in the Republic of Kosovo is carrying out a stabilization mission. As part of the operational activity of PMC KFOR, it performs tasks in the composition of the Multinational Combat Group - East. Currently, XXXVIII rotation of PMC KFOR is commanded by Lt. Col. Piotr Wrona. The Polish Military Contingent KFOR in Kosovo counts 248 professional soldiers and 14 army employees.

Polish soldiers have been participating in the KFOR mission since 1999. Their main tasks are to create and maintain conditions enabling the residents of Kosovo to function safely in their place of residence, ensure public safety and order, and to stop the resurgence of conflict in Kosovo.
