24.07.2024

- I am thankful for this very good meeting, very good Polish-British relations. For us this i san expression of extraordinary trust, friendship and cooperation. Today the minister was in Paris in the morning, in Berlin at noon and finishes in Warsaw. This shows how important a partner Poland is for Great Britain. This shows how important security and our cooperation are. Our friendship has never been as strong as it is in this moment. I am grateful for this approach to the Polish-British cooperation. The new government emerging after elections in Great Britain unequivocally stated its priorities – deputy prime minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said aftr the meeting with the defence secretary of Great Britain.

On July 24th, 2024, a meeting was held in Warsaw between deputy prime minister and minister of national defence Władysław Kosiniak – Kamysz and the defence secretary of Great Britain, John Healey.

The discussions concerned, among other topics, the security situation in Europe two years after Russian invasion of Ukraine, the effects of the recent NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. and the projects pursued through bilateral cooperation.

- We have the same view on security in Europe and globally. During the last NATO Summit in Washington we have made decisions together. We are determined to enhance our capabilities and strengthen our Armed Forces. Poland and Great Britain re united in cooperation for a cause of freedom, peace and democracy. These are our core values, to which we are faithful

- the deputy prime minister noted after the meeting.

The deputy prime minister said that a number of British Royal Engineers will be deployed in Poland in order to conduct a reconaissance regarding the possibilities of support in the construction of Shield East.

- We have discussed the situation at the Polish-Belarussian border and the attacks on Polish soldiers today. I have presented clips of these attacks. I am very thankful for the support both during the NATO Summit and today in Poland regarding the border of NATO’s eastern flank, the border of the Western world, as a common responsibility of member states of the North Atlantic Alliance. This has a measurable effect. Soon a group of British Royal Engineers will be sent to Poland, they will decide on how to support Poland in the construction of Shield East. The scouting group will conduct reconaissance and will continue its mission. (…). Another result of our discussion is a declaration of sending 4-6 Eurofighter planes for an Air Policing mission next year to patrol the Polish airspace. The Sky Sabre system is also stationed in Poland, protecting the airport in Jasionka. I am grateful for for it remaining here until the end of the year
