The security of Poland is a priority for the government

“The government treats Poland's security as a priority. The situation with which we are dealing on the Polish-Belarusian border is the most serious test for our services for decades. Polish soldiers, officers of the Border Guard and the police pass this exam perfectly ” - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence, during his speech to the Sejm.
On Tuesday, November the 9th, the head of the Ministry of National Defence presented to the parliament information on the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border and the actions taken by the Polish Army.
Minister M. Błaszczak presented the activities undertaken so far by the soldiers of the Polish Army who support the Border Guard officers in a hybrid fight conducted by the Lukashenka regime. As the head of the Ministry of National Defence pointed out, the actions of the Polish Army were undertaken a few months ago. Anticipating that the migration crisis that began on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border may move to Poland as early as July this year, soldiers began building a temporary fence on the border.
“Soldiers and officers do extremely hard work every day to protect the Motherland from a hybrid attack by the regime of the dictator Lukashenka. At the moment, about 13,000 soldiers from four divisions serve at the border. They are on duty directly at the border line as well as in the back. They are present along the entire length of the border line and support the Border Guard at almost all posts "- said the head of the Ministry of National Defence.
Apart from the land forces, the operations in the border regions also include the air component, with a total of five helicopters in use. The soldiers of the operational troops are supported by the soldiers of the engineering troops responsible for building and repairing damage to the fence. The soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces, who have been conducting the “Strong Support” operation since the introduction of the state of emergency, are also involved in the protection of the border zone.
“The Law and Justice government already in 2015 said what could result from uncontrolled migration. The open door policy has led to acts of terror in Western Europe. I was consistently talking about it on the EU forum while still serving as the Minister of the Interior and Administration. Currently, Poland is defending not only its territory against another wave of illegal migration. We also defend the entire European Union, remembering that for migrants we are only a transit country when traveling to Germany and further to the West of Europe "- said the minister.
Minister M. Błaszczak also presented information on migrants who are trying to get to Poland by force.
“Yesterday we saw with our own eyes aggressive, young men who do not hesitate to cynically use children to arouse emotions. We saw how they ruthlessly tried to destroy the fence, attack Polish soldiers and officers, and break through the territory of Poland by force. These were acts of aggression that could move from the border to Polish cities if we fail to stop this wave. Let us remember that the vast majority of migrants are young men who want to improve their economic situation and do it in an extremely perfidious way, taking absolutely no account of any consequences "- emphasized the minister.
The head of the Ministry of National Defence called for solidarity and unity in this difficult time, as well as support for soldiers and officers who serve on the border.
“We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated by the Minsk regime. Each successful attempt to destabilize the internal situation in our country drives Lukashenka to further attacks. We need the same solidarity as in Lithuania, where the entire political class speaks with one voice. We should be eternally grateful to our soldiers and officers for whom we have already had several months of incredibly hard service, and more are ahead of them. They must feel our support, they must know that the entire nation is behind them "- said the head of the Ministry of National Defence.
Minister Blaszczak thanked everyone involved in the defence of Polish borders.
"I was at the border today, I had the opportunity to talk to soldiers. They are brave people, determined to ensure Poland's security. They are patriots who know how much responsibility they bear at this critical moment for us. We are with you" - added the head of the Ministry of National Defence.
