We are building a strong position of Poland within NATO

- You are starting a new mission, a mission in Turkey. This is the first rotation, however, as Mr. President said, you are experienced soldiers. On the one hand you build a strong position of Poland within the North Atlantic Alliance, and on the other hand you gain experience that develop your military capabilities - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense during the meeting with soldiers serving in Turkey as part of the North Atlantic Alliance's operation, TAMT.

On Tuesday, May 25 this year, the President of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of National Defense met with Polish soldiers from the first rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Turkey, which initiated service at the Incirlik Air Base in April 2021.

- During the visit to Turkey, I had the honor of signing two important defense agreements. The first one is the contract for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Polish Army. (…) Undoubtedly, this agreement and the fact this equipment will be used by the Polish Army even next year, strengthens the defense capabilities of the Republic of Poland. This is extremely important. The second agreement concerns the exchange of classified information, which is the basis for further cooperation in the field of defense between Poland and Turkey - said Minister Mariusz Błaszczak to soldiers.

The Minister of National Defense thanked Polish soldiers for their service for security. - Thank you for your daily military cooperation. I wish you, soldiers of the Polish Army, satisfaction with your duties, and safe return to Poland after the mission is accomplished.

- Thank you for taking up this mission, because Turkey needed this support, it needed a proof of allied presence, also from us. And you are giving it right now. I am very grateful for that - said the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

Activities within TAMT operation (Tailored Assurance Measures for Turkey) are based on monitoring and patrolling the Mediterranean and the Black Sea as part of NATO comprehensive efforts to build common situational awareness in the region regarding the unstable political and military situation. Furthermore, Polish soldiers cooperate with NATO Standing Naval Teams and the Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) in Northwood.

In the frames of the Polish Military Contingent in Turkey, soldiers conduct tasks as part of the North Atlantic Alliance operation, TAMT (Tailored Assurance Measures for Turkey). The core of the first rotation of PMC Turkey provide soldiers from the Naval Aviation Brigade, and the basic asset of the contingent is the M28B 1R Bryza patrol and reconnaissance aircraft from the Naval Aviation Base in Siemirowice.
