On Friday, October the 8th, during a visit to the United States, the head of the Ministry of National Defence visited the National Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where he participated in a holy mass for fallen soldiers of the Polish Army.

During the ceremony, Minister Mariusz Błaszczak unveiled a plaque commemorating the soldiers of the Polish Army - the heroes of the Battle of Warsaw 1920, who achieved a great victory for the freedom of Europe.

“Thank you for being able to pray together at the Holy Mass, and now that we can unveil this plaque in such a noble group. The plaque that commemorates the Battle of Warsaw, the Miracle on the Vistula, commemorates the defence of our homeland, which was revived after 123 years of captivity, and later attacked by Bolshevik Russia. It was the whole nation that defended our homeland. It is also a great merit of the volunteers from the United States " - said the minister at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa.

“This plaque complements, is an important sign in our history. A sign telling about our fate, about Polish history. It is a memento in this special place, the Polish place on American soil. It is a memento of those who stopped the Bolshevik onslaught in 1920. During my meeting with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, I handed the secretary a copy of the book about this event. About a battle that decides the fate of the world. I gave it to prove that the soldiers of the Polish Army are steadfast, that they guard the security of our homeland, and that they are ready to defend the entire free world. Just like today as part of the North Atlantic Alliance. The Polish Army is active outside our country. It is active in ensuring the security of our homeland. Hence this important sign. A sign aimed at future generations, so that US citizens of Polish descent would remember the events of 1920, so that they would be proud of this event "- Minister Mariusz Błaszczak emphasized during his stay in Doylestown.
