Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers

On 1-2 December 2020, Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, held in the form of a video conference.
The NATO allies discussed current issues related to the Euro-Atlantic area security and the possibilities of enhancing political cooperation among the allies. The meeting also covered Eastern issues, in particular policy of Russia and China, as well as the security of the Black Sea region. At the invitation of the NATO Secretary General, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani, also joined a part of the meeting from Warsaw together with Minister Rau.
The NATO ministers talked about the conclusions of the report prepared by the Expert Group as part of the NATO 2030 process, which is a process of strategic reflection on NATO’s future. “Following the official presentation of the NATO 2030 Report, we are looking forward to final recommendations of NATO Secretary General on the future of the Alliance, which are to be presented before the next meeting of NATO heads of state and government in 2021,” emphasised Minister Rau while outlining Polish priorities concerning the adaptation of the Alliance to contemporary and future international security environment. The minister also thanked Minister Anna Fotyga, Poland’s representative at the Expert Group, for her participation in the group’s work as one of its ten members.
