MFA statement on the so called “presidential elections” in Abkhazia

23.03.2020

Poland considers as illegal the so-called “presidential elections” held on Georgian territory of Abkhazia by separatist authorities in Sokhumi on March 22, 2020, and we do not recognize their results. We strongly condemn all actions undertaken at the occupied territories without the consent of the government in Tbilisi.

Polish MFA, Warsaw

We invariably reiterate our full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders that were violated through the Russian military aggression in August 2008.

We call on Russian Federation to fulfil all obligations resulting from the peace agreement of 2008, including withdrawal of military troops and assurance of unhindered access of the humanitarian assistance to those regions. We also call on revocation of the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, lawfully being part of the Georgian territory.
