NATO Anniversary Summit in Washington

President Andrzej Duda, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski participated in the NATO Anniversary Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit began with the Allies-only session that was followed by the meeting with the Asia-Pacific Partners and the EU representatives. The Summit was concluded with the NATO-Ukraine Council session. The discussions focused on assistance to Ukraine, strengthened deterrence and defence posture and global partnerships.
Allies established the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine. The initiative will take over the coordination and provision of most of the international security assistance to Ukraine, with a command in Germany and hubs in the eastern part of the Alliance, including in Poland. The interoperability of Ukrainian forces with NATO will be developed with a leading role of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) in Bydgoszcz, Poland. NATO committed to long-term financial support for Ukraine and agreed that Ukraine is on the irreversible path towards membership in NATO.
NATO at 75 is a successful organization that has ensured security of its members. The Alliance has adopted ambitious defence plans and the number its high readiness troops across all domains has risen to 500,000. 23 Allies are at or above the minimum level of 2% of GDP for defence spending. Poland is leading by example with 4,12% of GDP spent on defence. More than 99% of all military support to Ukraine is provided by Allies.
NATO will reinforce its partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, to push against the growing alignment of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
During the Summit NATO adopted a new NATO defence industrial pledge, a Policy on Women, Peace and Security and a revised AI Strategy. Allies announced readiness of Aegis Ashore missile defence base in Redzikowo, Poland and a decision to establish the NATO Integrated Cyber Defence Centre in Mons, Belgium.
On the sidelines of the Summit President Biden launched the Ukraine Compact with Allies and partners that signed long-term bilateral security agreements with Ukraine. The Compact creates a unified and comprehensive architecture to support Ukraine today and in the future.
