23.05.2021
On May 20 - 21 Head of National Security Bureau, Paweł Soloch visited NATO Headquarters to hold consultations before the June NATO Summit.
We expect that at the next NATO Summit, a decision will be made on the preparation of a new strategic concept, which will involve a new commitment by the Allies to develop deterrence and defense potential of the Alliance, said Minister Paweł Soloch after meetings with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges David van Weel and Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning Patrick Turner. Minister Soloch also held consultations with the Permanent Representatives of the Baltic States to NATO, as well as with Permanent Representatives of the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
During the meetings, min. Soloch raised the issues of NATO's role in enhancing deterrence and defense, hybrid and cyber threats, as well as energy security on NATO's eastern flank. The situation in Ukraine and Georgia, especially in the context of Russia's aggressive actions, was also discussed during the visit.
The visit of min. Soloch is part of President Andrzej Duda's broader activity, which resulted in the B9 meeting in Bucharest, with the participation of the US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The Head of the National Security Bureau underlined that the B9 meeting served to work out a common position before the June Summit of the Alliance.
