06.03.2025
President Andrzej Duda met with the Secretary General Mark Rutte at NATO Headquarters. During the talks, they discussed the current security situation in the Euro-Atlantic area, especially the war in Ukraine.
They also consulted on the state of preparations for the NATO summit in The Hague in June. They agreed that Allies should bear more financial responsibility for security and ramp up their military production. In this context, President Duda presented the concept of raising the minimal threshold of Allies’ defense spending to 3% of GDP. The Secretary General recognized Poland as a model Ally in this respect and appreciated Polish contribution to the Alliance's military presence on the eastern flank. He also congratulated Poland on the upcoming 26th anniversary of its accession to NATO.
