Polish Aid in Hebron
13.01.2020
At the beginnig of this week we had very good meetings in Hebron – the city of exceptional, almost symbolic significance for the world heritage and three main Abrahamic religions.
Our local partner organization there is the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee headed by General Director Mr Emad Hamdan. Together we met Mr Yousuf Al-Jabari Deputy Mayor of Hebron and Mr. Jibril Al-Bakri Governor of Hebron district.
The old city of Hebron - declared a protected World Heritage Site by #UNESCO in 2017 - is an area of outstanding universal value. However the Old City needs permanent care. Old City’s Rehabilitation Programme involves the restoration and reuse of historic buildings for housing purposes, improvement of public spaces, urban infrastructure and communal services, as well as social and legal assistance to stimulate job creation and develop the local economy.
We are glad to contribute to the restoration of this area by successfully completing the project of improving access to services of after-school education and safe playground for children in Al Salaymeh area. Today, together with local authorities, we had the privilege to meet the local community and officially open the restored area and playground for kids.
