We are pleased to announce that from September 1^st until September 6^th 2022, the Polish Song and Dance Ensemble “Śląsk” will visit Riyadh. The concerts will take place every day from September 1^st until September 6^th 2022 at 08:30 PM at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter. The organizer on the Saudi side is THREADS Culture for Art.

Please find attached a description of the program of the concert tour in Riyadh provided by the Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble:

 

Polish songs, folk and national dances - without them most of the programs in the repertoire of the Song and Dance Ensemble "Śląsk" would not exist. With the richness of music, choreography and unique charm resulting from tradition, the Ensemble has been sharing with audiences for decades delighting them with the artistry of performance.

The "Śląsk" Ensemble will appear on stage in the full splendor of folk costumes, in a repertoire of the most beautiful folk-national songs and dances. The bulk of the program consists of compositions or musical arrangements by Stanisław Hadyna and choreographic arrangements by Elwira Kamińska - co-founder of the "Śląsk" Ensemble. In the repertoire, which has been specially arranged for the audience in Saudi Arabia, the Ensemble has gathered a collection of songs and dances which have formed the international artistic brand of "Śląsk" for nearly 70 years. The program will include the most beautiful and well-known compositions by Stanisław Hadyna, Wojciech Kilar and choreographies by Elwira Kamińska or Juraj Kubanka. The artists will present to the audience the repertoire with which "Śląsk" conquers the stages of the whole world. There will be, among others, the most famous songs of Stanislaw Hadyna, which from the beginning created the history of the Ensemble: "Karolinka", "Szła dzieweczka", "Gdybym to ja miała". We will also hear musical arrangements by world-renowned composer Wojciech Kilar. For decades, the enthusiasm of audiences around the world has been aroused by dynamic dances presenting the richness of folk culture, as well as national dances: kujawiak, oberek, polonaise, mazur and the final krakowiak. Shimmering with colors, the stage, excellent ballet artists in captivating choreographies - all together will make up a dance journey through the most beautiful corners of many regions of Poland.

The works presented in the program today form a musical canon of national and folk dances, many of which have become unsurpassed models in the field of staged stylization of Polish folk and national dances. Vibrancy, grace, elegance, youthfulness of expression and craftsmanship of performance - qualities once developed under the tutelage of Stanisław Hadyna and Elwira Kamińska - make the show of the "Śląsk" Ensemble stay forever in the heart of the viewer.
