18.12.2024
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with an accompanying delegation from December 15 to 18. During his stay in Riyadh, the Deputy Prime Minister took part in the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) speaking as one of the main guests. The Deputy Prime Minister's visit came less than a month after the Polish-Saudi Business Forum in Warsaw (November 19), which hosted a number of Saudi entrepreneurs.
Among the members of the delegation, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Digitization, were the directors of the Central Informatics Center and the Scientific and Academic Computer Network as well as representatives of Polish companies already operating in the Saudi market (including Asseco Middle East and AEROPACT).
In addition to attending the IGF, the Deputy Prime Minister also held a series of meetings with, among others:
- Minister of Commerce, Majid Al Kassabi;
- Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Abdullah Al Swaha;
- Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih;
- Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, Deema Al-Yahya;
- President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, Hassan bin Mujab Al-Huwaizi.
The Deputy Prime Minister also attended a gala dinner organized in his honor by the Chairman of the Saudi-Polish Business Council, Abdullah Abu Dabeel, and gave an interview to the local Al-Riyadh newspaper on the circumstances of his visit and the potential for Polish-Saudi cooperation.
For the first time in the history of bilateral cooperation on one day, a representative of the Polish government met with 3 Saudi ministers of key ministries from the point of view of economic relations. It should be noted that about 30 Saudi companies have asked the Federation of Saudi Chambers for assistance in entering the Polish market, and a similar number of Polish companies are expected to be interested in investing in Saudi Arabia.
