The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Riyadh announces that a direct air service operated by LOT Polish Airlines on the Warsaw - Riyadh route is operational from 4 June 2024. Three flights per week are scheduled, the route is expected to be year-round.
The inauguration ceremony for this route was attended by representatives of Polskie Porty Lotnicze (Polish Airports) - President Andrzej Ilków and Board Members Monika Niewczas and Adam Sanocki, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Poland - Saad Saleh Alsaleh, Poland's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia - Robert Rostek, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism - Piotr Borys and President of the LOT Polish Airlines Michał Fijoł.
Andrzej Ilków - President of Polskie Porty Lotnicze (Polish Airports) - expressed his satisfaction that another very attractive direction has appeared at Chopin Airport in Warsaw. He congratulated LOT on expanding the number of routes available from the Warsaw airport, which thus increases its importance in the region. He thanked all those involved for their work, which made the launch of flights to Riyadh possible. At the same time, he addressed the passengers, wishing them a safe and exciting travel.
The launch of this air link was made possible by the air service agreement signed on 28 August 2023 between the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
The flights on the Warsaw-Riyadh route are part of the growing interest of both Polish business and tourists in Saudi Arabia and the significantly increasing popularity of Poland as a tourist destination among KAS residents.
The Embassy was involved in the promotion of flights from Saudi Arabia to Poland from 4 January this year, conducting a monthly campaign to promote Polish cities, regions and other tourist attractions, including:
- Wrocław,
- Kraków,
- Zakopane,
- Warsaw,
- Gdańsk and the Białowieża Forest.
in Arabic and English via the X platform and the Embassy's website. The event was also promoted during a reception on the occasion of the 3rd May Constitution Day (an occasional speech by the head of the post and the screening of a promotional film by the Polish Tourist Organisation), as well as during the Ambassador's participation in the European Economic Congress in Katowice on 7-9 May this year and the Export Forum in Lublin on 20 March this year.
In addition, the Ambassador gave an interview to the Diplomatic Quarter magazine, in which, among other aspects of Polish-Saudi cooperation, he mentioned the opening of a direct air link.
