Special PLL LOT flight has taken Poles and UE citizens from Riyadh

As part of the PLL LOT action “LOT do Domu”, Polish Airlines special charter took Poles and EU citizens remaining in Saudi Arabia back home. Those who did not manage to leave the Kingdom before closing the state borders have returned to Europe. It was the first landing of a Polish commercial aircraft on Saudi soil in history.

On March 27th, LOT Polish Airlines special charter has taken from Riyadh to Warsaw Polish and European citizens who did not manage to return to their countries of residence before closing the state borders and suspending international flights by the Saudi authorities. In total, 30 Poles returned to Poland as part of a special repatriation flight. In addition, the plane has taken 68 Germans, 27 Spaniards, 13 Hungarians, 5 Czechs, 4 Portuguese, 2 Belgians and 2 Dutchmen who have returned to their homeland through Warsaw.

It is worth mentioning that it was the first - historic - flight and landing of a Polish commercial aircraft on Saudi soil.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had closed its land, air and sea borders on the March 15th as a precaution measure taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic.
