On the occasion of the launch of direct flights between Poland and Saudi Arabia, scheduled for 4 June 2024, the Embassy has launched an information series on Poland. Every month, until 4 June, we are going to publish information on attractive tourist destinations in our country.

Gdańsk - the birthplace of the Solidarity movement

Gdańsk, located at the Baltic Sea, is a modern centre of culture, science, entertainment and sport. Its location and over a thousand years of history make Gdańsk a distinctive European city and an attractive tourist destination.
As the birthplace of Solidarity, Gdańsk has become a centre of debate about the modern world; as the World Amber Capital, it fires the imagination of fashion and jewellery designers; as a city of freedom, it inspires artists.
As an IT centre it hosts the best specialists; and as an intriguing city, vibrant with life and history, it attracts millions of tourists every year. As a centre of science, Gdańsk attracts many students not only from Poland but also from abroad to study, and has become the venue for many important international events and conferences.
