Penderecki’s Garden
20.05.2020
Virtual Garden Announced to Honour Krzysztof Penderecki: The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is seeding a virtual, interactive garden inspired by the work of Krzysztof Penderecki. Penderecki’s Garden will attain full bloom on 23rd November, the composer’s birthday.
Penderecki’s Garden is to provide a comprehensive overview of the composer Krzysztof Penderecki’s legacy. The unexpected solutions applied in this digital garden hideaway will show just how inspiring and versatile Penderecki’s work is. Proof will come from artists commissioned by AMI to create music in memoriam of the maestro.
Short sound, visual and audiovisual pieces will show the scale and significance of the cultural phenomenon of Penderecki’s music. Film, rock, jazz and electronic music are all areas in which references to Penderecki’s oeuvre can be found. The blooming landscape will also include works to which Penderecki contributed – lesser known, as they do not belong to the main current of his activity as an artist.
Starting on 20th May 2020, Penderecki’s Garden will be promoted through an online music memory game (MemoryPenderecki.pl) in which the player has to match paired excerpts of the maestro’s work. Penderecki’s Garden is addressed to the international audience – its content will be available in English. A preview of Penderecki’s Garden is available now at PendereckisGarden.pl.
This project is part of an international cultural programme co-ordinated by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute within the framework of the multi-annual programme NIEPODLEGŁA 2017-2022.
