Poland presides over the 49. session of the UNIDO Industrial Development Board (IDB).

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Office and the international organizations in Vienna, ambassador Dominika Krois, has been elected as President of the IDB taking place between 12-15 July 2021.

UNIDO Industrial Development Board

The Industrial Development Board comprises of 53 members elected for a four-year term on a rotational basis from all Member States. It reviews the implementation of the work programme, the regular and operational budgets and makes recommendations to the General Conference on policy matters.

 

The main task of the July IDB session is to elect the new Director General of UNIDO, who will be approved by the organization’s General Conference later on. Three candidatures have been put forward: from Germany, Ethiopia and Bolivia. The current Director General of UNIDO – LI Yong began his term in 2013.

 

UNIDO is the specialized agency of the United Nations, it promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. 170 States are Members of UNIDO. The mission of UNIDO is to stimulate and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States.
