Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh

Łukasz Lutostański (born in 1973) holds a PhD in Management Sciences from Leon Koźmiński Academy and a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Warsaw. He started his diplomatic career in 1998 as a trainee within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1999-2000 he was a Research Specialist for the Polish Foundation for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. Mr Lutostański was then appointed II and I Secretary in the Public and Cultural Diplomacy Department where he worked between 2001 and 2007.

He was the Director General of Foreign Service Bureau (2007-2009) and of Archives and Information Management Bureau (2009-2012). At that time, he was also an Academic Lecturer in Project Management, Negotiations, Sales Techniques, Leadership and Public Diplomacy at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw.

Between 2012 and 2016 Mr Lutostański served as the Consul General in Manchester. Upon his return he briefly worked in the Diplomatic Academy before being appointed Deputy Director at the Crisis Operational Centre within the Consular Department (2017-2018), Director of Public and Cultural Diplomacy Department (2018-2019) and Director of Consular Department (2019-2021).

He speaks fluent English and Russian and loves mountains, sailing and cycling. He is married with two children.
