Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester
Consul Ireneusz Truszkowski was born on May 7, 1965, in Płońsk. He is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and completed Postgraduate Studies in Labour Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw.
He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January 1993, advancing through various professional levels from an inspector in the Administrative and Financial Department and the Finance Office to head of a division in the Office of the Director-General of the Foreign Service and the Consular Department, deputy director in the Personnel Affairs Office, and at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2009, he was appointed a civil service officer. In the same year, for his merits in diplomatic service and his activities for Polish community organizations, he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit. In 2014, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Long-term Service and received the Andrzej Kremer Award for "Consul of the Year 2014" presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 2019, he was honored with the "Pro Bono Poloniae" medal.
On July 1st, 2024, he was appointed to the position of Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester.
