On 13 March 2025, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski met with the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of the Republic of Mongolia Enkhbayar Jadamba. The meeting was held as part of the official visit paid by the President of Mongolia Khürelsükh Ukhnaa to Poland. During the visit, the leaders of both countries signed an action plan for a comprehensive partnership between the Republic of Poland and Mongolia for the years 2025–2030. The plan also regards cooperation in the agricultural sector. The plenary session, chaired by the Presidents of Poland and Mongolia, was also attended by the Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak.

Position of Poland

Minister Czesław Siekierski pointed out that Poland could be a country supporting relations between Mongolia and the European Union countries. The Minister also declared readiness of the research institutes supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for cooperation with their Mongolian counterparts.

The representatives of the food industry present at the meeting pointed out that Polish products, among others, apples and fruit and vegetable products, were popular in the Mongolian market. Among the potential export products to the Mongolian market, they also mentioned poultry and pork.

Position of Mongolia

Minister Enkhbayar Jadamba noted that the potential of Polish-Mongolian economic cooperation remained untapped. Mongolia is interested mainly in acquiring knowledge, the so-called know-how, in the field of technology in agriculture and agri-food processing. The head of the Mongolian Ministry of Agriculture also expressed readiness to cooperate with Polish entities as regards the construction of all-season greenhouses and the import of dairy and meat cows.

Polish-Mongolian trade in agri-food products

We record a positive trade balance in agri-food trade with Mongolia. In 2024, the export of agri-food products to this country reached the value of EUR 43.7 million, which means an increase by 18% when compared to the year 023. Agri-food products account for the largest share of Polish export to Mongolia. Polish apples enjoy the greatest interest of Mongolian consumers (26% of the value of agri-food export in 2024). We also export fruit and vegetable products, mineral waters, chocolate and other products containing cocoa.
