During the Grüne Woche fair in Berlin, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, held talks with ministers of agriculture from Moldova, the United Kingdom, and Lithuania, as well as representatives of German Lands – Saxony, Bavaria, and Brandenburg. The minister also met with officials from the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship, Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, and Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeships.

‘Poland could not miss being present at Grüne Woche. Our participation in this event is now a tradition, especially given that the majority of our agri-food exports are destined for Germany,’ emphasised the head of Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture on the first day of his visit to one of the world’s largest exhibitions of food, agriculture, and horticulture – the International Green Week (Internationale Grüne Woche) in Berlin.

The Secretary of State, Michał Kołodziejczak, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Poland, Nargiz Gurbanova. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Poland and Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture, particularly in areas such as trade and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. Discussions also addressed the export potential of Polish agri-food products.

– Dialogue with farmers is the guiding principle of our Presidency of the field of agriculture – stressed the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski, during a meeting with the Copa-Cogeca management.

The first shipment of Polish apples - the official fruit of the Polish presidency of the Council of the EU - set off for Brussels on Wednesday from the orchards of Grójec.

The development of cooperation between the countries in agricultural matters was discussed by the Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski with the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.

At the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, a meeting of the Polish-French Joint Committee on Agriculture was held. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Bogusław Wijatyk, Director General of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of France, Philippe Duclaud, as well as substantive experts from both Ministries. Since on 1 January 2025 Poland takes the presidency of the Council of the EU, the experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development presented the plans and priorities of the Polish Presidency.

Further talks were held between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski and the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval. Yesterday’s online meeting was also attended by the representatives of industry organisations from both countries. Minister Siekierski was accompanied by the Secretary of State Michał Kołodziejczak and Director General Bogusław Wijatyk.

The Common Agricultural Policy post-2027 focused on farmers and future opportunities in the field of bio-economy are the major topics of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) meeting in the part on agriculture. In the field of fisheries, a political agreement on fishing opportunities in the Atlantic, North Sea, Mediterranean and Black Sea has been foreseen for 2025, and in the case of some species also for 2026. The Polish delegation was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski.
