Among the audience were representatives of the federal parliament, the diplomatic corps, people of culture and science, as well as members and supporters of the association Friends of Chopin Australia, which co-organized the event.

Leon Rogalski JS, first Polish chaplain to AustraliaThe celebrations took place on 13 March 2021 in the historic settlement of Polish Hill River near Adelaide, the site of the first Polish settlement in Australia. The event was attended by Ambassador Michał Kołodziejski and a wide representation of the state and church in South Australia, including SA Governor Hieu Van Le, parliamentarians and local authorities, as well as Polish communities from South Australia and Victoria.

Kosciuszko were held in the Snowy Valleys region. 181 years ago, on March 9, 1840, Paweł Strzelecki’s expedition set off from these areas and led Polish explorer to the highest peak in continental Australia.

19.02.2021Polish fundraise for the recovery of Kosciuszko National Park from bushfire devastation – a year onA year after the devastating bushfires in 2019-20, wildlife recovery efforts are still ongoing, lots of them financed using the funds received from Poland. Almost half a million złotych collected by volunteer firefighters from Poręba Spytkowska, as well as funds donated by the Polish community in Australia (over $150,000 AUD in total), are being spent to help saving species most threatened with extinction, including on the restoration of their habitat destroyed by fire. The restoration of flora and fauna unique to Mount Kosciuszko is a process that will, however, take many years.
