05.05.2022Donors' conference in Warsaw - over EUR 6.3 billion to help UkraineThe International Donors' Conference to support Ukraine, held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, has just ended. The event was organised at the initiative of the Prime Ministers of Poland and Sweden and the main goal was to raise funds for the war-torn eastern neighbour of Poland. Over EUR 6.3 billion was raised during the conference and the funds will be used for further humanitarian aid. The President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission were partners of the event. The conference was also attended by the heads of state and government, representatives of global business and financial institutions, as well as representatives of international humanitarian institutions.

The event was initiated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. The event partners include the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The aim of the initiative is humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Both Polish and Slovak governments recognise the illegal and unprovoked attack on Ukraine as the most serious challenge to European security and express their support for the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. The consultations also concerned other areas, including foreign affairs, home affairs, environment, economy, energy, transport, regional policy, agriculture, family and social policy. The meeting ended with the signing of a joint declaration on the occasion of the 3rd Polish-Slovak Intergovernmental Consultations.

10.04.2022Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has commemorated the victims on the 12th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedyTwelve years ago, a plane crash in Smolensk took the lives of all members of the Polish delegation and crew heading to the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. Ninety-six people were killed, including President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and government representatives have commemorated the victims by laying flowers and lighting candles at the monument to the late President Lech Kaczyński and at the monument to the Victims of the Smolensk Tragedy in Warsaw, among other places. The Head of Government has also visited the graves of those who died tragically in the disaster on 10 April.

The company operates in the arms and civil sectors. It conducts research and development works in electronic technology and software. It also develops and manufactures, among others, means of military telecommunications. As the PM highlighted, with the acceleration of the armaments programme, the Polish army has been increasingly well-equipped.
