Oficial information on east border
On the morning of 24 February, Russia violated the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Poland strongly condemns the unprecedented military attack on Ukraine. We stand by Ukraine as its neighbours, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Alliance. Russian aggression should be brought to an end as soon as possible. Ukraine has our support. The growing number of attempts from migrants to cross the European Union’s border results from a crisis created by the Belarusian authorities. The situation, which is changing dynamically every day, brings more information and challenges. The latest news about them is gathered on this website.

Origin of the conflict
Russia has long manifested aspirations to threaten the security of its neighbours. We have experienced this on the Polish-Belarusian border of the European Union. For the past few months, thousands of people have been used in a hybrid attack on our border as a result of Moscow's influence.
The Ukrainian-Russian conflict has been going on for a long time - in 2014, Russia invaded the Donbas and annexed the Crimean Peninsula.
Since mid-February 2022, the world's services have been reporting on the possibility of another Russian attack on Ukrainian territory.
On 21 February, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognising the "independence" of two self-proclaimed separatist republics in eastern Ukraine. This included an order to dispatch Russian forces to "maintain peace" in Lugansk and Donetsk.
Later the same day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called for an urgent meeting of the European Council. Poland called for sanctions and protection of our neighbour, Ukraine, in an appropriate manner.
On the morning of 24 February, Russian troops advanced into Ukraine. The violation of the country's integrity and sovereignty is a violation of all international agreements. Poland calls for a firm and united international response while at the same time assuring Ukraine of its support.
-
The Belarusian authorities have been involved in actions in the nature of hybrid warfare against the European Union since June 2021.
-
Illegal migration supported by the Belarusian authorities aims to destabilise the political situation and put the security of Poland and the European Union at risk.
-
The aim of numerous attempts to break the territorial integrity and acts of provocation from the Belarusian authorities is to exacerbate the migration crisis caused by Minsk.
-
Using the dramatic situation of people living in the Middle East and other regions is part of a cruel and cynical political game played by the Belarusian tyrant.
-
Transports with people from these regions organised by the Belarusian authorities continue to arrive in Minsk. From Minsk, these people are transported to the Polish and European Union’s border.
The circumstances that we are now facing require any political disagreements to be put aside. It is a matter of security of the entire European Community and values that unite us. Our unwavering opposition to the actions taken by the Belarusian authorities is also supported by the European Commission and NATO. It is also firm opposition to aggression and disgraceful use of those who suffer as human shields.
Faced with this serious threat, all Polish authorities are making every effort to ensure that Poland and Poles are safe and protected. These efforts include preventive actions, increased Border Guard, Polish Armed Forces and police presence as well as the construction of a permanent wall.
Entering towns and villages near the border
Between 1 December and 1 March, entering 183 towns and villages near the border with Belarus will be prohibited. The prohibition concerns 115 towns and villages in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and 68 in the Lubelskie Voivodeship.
A Press Centre for correspondents covering the situation on the Poland-Belarus border of the European Union will open on 3 December.
This is where press conferences will be held. There will also be special workshops with experts devoted to the eastern geopolitical situation.
Due to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, from 7.00 a.m. 9.11.2021 traffic will be suspended in both directions at the road border crossing point in Kuźnica.
Travelers should head the border crossing points in Terespol and Bobrowniki.
