The foreign ministers of Poland and Latvia met in Warsaw on 8 December 2021.

“Poland has been continuously driven by the spirit of solidarity with its allies and feels responsible for our common security,” said Minister Rau referring to the outcomes of the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Riga and the OSCE ministerial conference in Stockholm. The chiefs of diplomacy exchanged information on the developments on their countries’ border with Belarus. The talks also covered eastern policy, including the state of preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit.

The ministers expressed satisfaction with the development of Polish-Latvian relations over the last 30 years, discussed the current bilateral agenda encompassing economy, infrastructure and energy-related issues, especially regarding the synchronisation of the energy network between the Baltic countries.

They also focused on collaboration within the Three Seas Initiative and preparations for the format’s summit that is to be hosted by Latvia in June 2022.

Minister Zbigniew Rau thanked his Latvian counterpart for Latvia’s open and constructive attitude towards Poles living in the country.
