The “Territorials” guard the security of the eastern border
30.11.2021
The operation of the Territorial Defence Forces codenamed “Strong Support” is ongoing in the Lubelskie and Podlaskie Voivodeships. Its purpose is to strengthen the resilience of local communities from border regions against threats of a hybrid nature.
Tasks carried out by soldiers from the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade are focused primarily on providing support for the Bug Border Guard Regional Unit. This support is especially important in terms of utilisation of specialised equipment, such as flat-bottomed patrol boats, FlyEye unmanned aerial vehicles and light masts.
Activities under the “Strong Support” operation in the Lubelskie Voivodeship also involve Territorial Defence soldiers from other regions, including the Subcarpathia and Mazovia regions as well as Łódzkie and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeships. Their presence improves the capacity in terms of utilisation of specialised equipment at the disposal of the Territorial Defence Forces and ensures rotation at posts.
Soldiers from the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade are deploying patrols, observation posts and control points 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Equipped with thermal vision and night vision gear, they patrol the border area of our Voivodeship. They conduct water patrols along the Bug River and horse patrols in difficult-to-reach areas. Support Assessment Teams are also active at all times, monitoring the situation in the areas covered by the state of emergency and reacting, on an ongoing basis, to the needs reported by local government authorities and residents.
The common goal of Border Guard officers, Police officers and soldiers is to protect the eastern border of Poland and ensure the safety of our homeland. These actions enjoy considerable public support. Each day, residents of the border regions as well as other parts of Poland express their solidarity, gratitude and support for soldiers and officers.
