Warsaw: piano capital of the world – the 18th Chopin Piano Competition

From October 2nd to 23rd, 2021, the 18th Chopin Competition will be held in Warsaw.
The 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition will be inaugurated on 2 October with an exceptional programme fit for the exceptional artists. In the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall will resound with chamber and orchestra masterpieces of Robert Schumann, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Schumann’s Piano Quintet will be performed by Yulianna Avdeeva and Belcea Quartet, and Bach’s Concerto for 4 Pianos and Strings by Kevin Kenner, Philippe Giusiano, Dang Thai Son and Yulianna Avdeeva with the combined forces of two string quartets: the Belcea and the Simply Quartet, while Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 – by Seong-Jin Cho and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrzej Boreyko.
This exceptional concert will open the great Chopin festivity attracting the attention of the entire music world. We are in for three weeks with the music of the Polish composing genius interpreted by the youngest generation of pianists. Nearly 90 virtuosos from 18 countries, aged 17 to 31, will present their visions of Chopin’s music to the audience gathered not only in the Concert Hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic but also listening to radio broadcasts and connecting remotely online.
