24.04.2019

“Anniversary celebrations of the Eastern Partnership should help make this project more visible in EU Member States and, perhaps more importantly, in the six partner countries,” said the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy addressing a conference organised on the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership “Strong Together” in Chisinau.

In his address, Deputy Minister Przydacz stressed the importance of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership as a unique opportunity to launch a debate on a post-2020 vision of this initiative’s future and laid out Poland’s proposals on how to take it forward. “The Eastern Partnership is one of the most successful EU initiatives and there is no doubt that its implementation has led to positive changes in the EU’s eastern neighbourhood,” declared the deputy head of the Polish MFA.

During his visit to Chisinau, Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz also held bilateral consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Moldova Daniela Morari. They discussed the state of bilateral relations and prospects for Moldova’s EU association process. The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy said he hoped that following Moldova’s parliamentary election in February, a government will be formed that will continue the process of integration with the European structures. He also assessed that this is the only path towards modernisation and democratic transformation of the state and reaffirmed Poland’s readiness to continue supporting Moldova on this path.

On the occasion of his visit to Moldova, Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz was also shown the outcomes of a Polish development aid project “Moldovan Culinary Routes.” This project, implemented in 2015 – 2017 in the Călăraşi and Purcari regions, was aimed at supporting rural areas by building a local tourism product and contributing to sustainable rural development.

The deputy foreign minister also visited the Information Centre for Local Authorities run by Solidarity Fund PL. He also laid flowers at a plaque commemorating the victims of the air crash at Smolensk and toured the Adam Mickiewicz Library in Chisinau.
