The main aim of the meetings was to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation, also within the European Union, the UN and the OSCE, to continue political and humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk thanked Ireland for its solidarity in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, also as part of Ireland’s current membership of the UN Security Council, and for assistance Ireland has been providing to Ukraine, including by hosting Ukrainian refugees. The deputy head of the Polish MFA called for continued support for severe sanctions against Russia and for holding the country to account for the crimes it has been committing during its barbaric assault on Ukraine. He also urged to continue support for the European perspective of Ukraine. Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk also gave an interview to RTÉ, Ireland’s national television and radio broadcaster.

While in Dublin, the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy opened an exhibition titled “After the Great War. A New Europe 1918-1923”, organised by the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) in partnership with Irish institutions, the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and the National Museum of Ireland. Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk concluded his visit by laying a wreath at the Famine Memorial, a monument commemorating victims of the Great Famine in Ireland.
