05.07.2024
Responsible for global challenges, MFA’s Undersecretary of State Jakub Wiśniewski presented Ms Hanna Miśniakiewicz and Ms Monika Zimnoch with nominations for UN Youth Delegates to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Ms Hanna Miśniakiewicz is closely affiliated with UNICEF, and Ms Monika Zimnoch has been engaged in green education for the youth for several years.
Today’s event was also attended by Undersecretary of State Marek Krawczyk of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland and Jarosław Olszewski, Co-Chair of the Council for Dialogue with the Young Generation.
“Activism within the UN is a key component of our country’s foreign policy. Both delegates will have a chance to represent the Polish youth at a global forum,” Deputy Minister Wiśniewski observed. He noted that Poland has participated in the Youth Delegate Programme to the United Nations since 2012. “The Programme provides ambitious and state-oriented young people with a great opportunity to cooperate with their peers and make the Polish youth heard internationally. They have been making best use of that opportunity,” the undersecretary added. He said that the Youth Delegate mandate is both an honour and a responsibility.
The deputy minister was satisfied to note that the Polish youth’s representatives to the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly are well prepared for the task, knowledgeable and experienced in international settings.
Also, Undersecretary of State Jakub Wiśniewski referred to the work of Poland’s current youth delegates, bringing back their active role at sessions and as moderators during an event accompanying the annual Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, devoted to Lublin as the European Capital of Youth 2023.
