“If the United Kingdom rejects the Withdrawal Agreement for the third time, Poland will take a constructive approach to a possible request for further extension. However, it must be the UK’s decision and the request should have appropriate political grounds,” the Polish deputy foreign minister said today during his meeting with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier.
They talked about the dynamic political situation in the United Kingdom related to the country’s leaving the European Union and another vote in the British Parliament on the Withdrawal Agreement. They also discussed a scenario for a no-deal Brexit. “Our priority continues to be a Brexit with a deal and Poland will do everything possible to make this happen,” underscored Deputy Minister Szymański. He also pointed out that in the event of a no-deal Brexit, it will be necessary to quickly establish new, ambitious trade and security relations between the EU and the UK. The deputy Polish foreign minister also noted that financial settlements will play an important role in this discussion.
