Deputy Minister Maciej Lang visits Angola

02.07.2019

“Poland and Angola have enjoyed sincere friendship and mutual trust for decades. I particularly welcome the vibrant economic and scientific cooperation of recent years,” MFA Undersecretary of State Maciej Lang said in Luanda. As part of his visit to Angola, the deputy foreign minister met with Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation.

During the talks, Deputy Minister Lang underlined the importance of regular political consultations between the two countries. The officials devoted much attention to the assessment of key threats to Central Africa’s regional security. Minister Lang emphasised that Angola plays a key role in the security architecture of this part of the continent. The shared commitment of Angola and Poland to international peace and security, including through non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council (Poland a member currently, Angola in 2015-16), provides opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.‎

The minister was accompanied by representatives of PKN ORLEN led by Daniel Obajtek, the president of its management board. The company is looking with interest at Angola’s hydrocarbon market. ORLEN plans to expand its business with African countries, including Angola, thereby diversifying the sources of oil supply. ‎
