20.06.2019
Political and economic cooperation, and security in the Middle East were the main topics of Polish-Bahraini political consultations co-chaired by Deputy Minister Maciej Lang and Deputy Foreign Minister of Bahrain Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa in Manama.
The talks also covered cooperation in the area of security and fighting terrorism as part of the Global Coalition against Daesh.
During his visit to Bahrain’s capital, Deputy Minister Maciej Lang also met with Foreign Minister Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa. “We see that the Bahraini side is very much interested in developing political and economic relations, something that Polish businesses and government institutions are intent on. We will continue our exchange of opinions and views on regional and international issues,” he added.
The deputy head of MFA underscored that Poland is deeply concerned with the growing tension in the Persian Gulf region, because it not only affects security in the Middle East region, but also in other parts of the world. He also noted that preserving stability in the Middle East region is an important area of Poland’s activities in the context of its non-permanent UN Security Council seat. He also recalled that Poland supports all mediation efforts. The deputy head of the Polish MFA also visited the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), where he met with the head of this institution Dr Omar Alubaydli and his team. They discussed the regional situation and prospective Polish-Bahraini economic cooperation.
The consultations in Manama are part of efforts to develop Poland’s cooperation with countries in the Middle East. In February 2019, during the Ministerial to Promote Peace and Security in the Middle East, which took place in Warsaw, the chief of diplomacy of Poland and Bahrain met for the first time in history.
