On 2-3 November 2022 in Vilnius, MFA Undersecretary of State Marcin Przydacz held a number of consultations with representatives of Lithuanian authorities and research centres.
During his talks with Vice-Ministers of Foreign Affairs Jonas Survila, Jovita Neliupšienė and Egidijus Meilūnas, Deputy Minister Przydacz discussed security threats in the region resulting from Russia’s aggression of Ukraine, the current NATO agenda, EU sanctions against Russia, and the situation of Polish businesses on the Lithuanian market. Deputy Minister Przydacz emphasised that Russia is NATO’s biggest threat. “Adapting allied military presence at the eastern flank to the current threats should be an absolute priority ahead of the 2023 Vilnius Summit,” he said.
In a meeting with Lithuanian President’s Advisor Asta Skaisgirytė, the officials discussed international security issues and the role of the region. Also, Deputy Minister Przydacz gave a speech at the Eastern Europe Studies Centre, a leading Lithuanian think tank, on the vision of next year’s NATO summit. The meeting was attended by analysts and representatives of the diplomatic corps of NATO and EU countries together with both organisations’ partners.
“Poland is willing to share its experience in organising a meeting of NATO countries and governments. We offer all assistance to Lithuanian hosts to ensure the success of the next summit in the eastern flank,” stressed Deputy Minister Przydacz.
The last item on the agenda was a wreath-laying ceremony at Antakalnis Cemetery.
