26.10.2022
On 24-26 October 2022, Undersecretary of State Marcin Przydacz visited the Republic of Korea. The aim of the visit was to hold Polish-Korean consultations under the strategic partnership and to discuss the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
In Seoul, the Polish deputy minister met with his counterpart Choi Youngsam. He talked about the prospects for developing bilateral relations, especially in trade and the military sector. Deputy Minister Przydacz expressed his hope that Polish-Korean economic cooperation would develop at least as dynamically as it recently has.
“We count on Korea’s further investments in our country, and hope for increased openness of its markets to products from Poland,” he underlined.
The war in Ukraine and security situation in the Korean Peninsula were the main subjects of his discussion with Deputy Director of the National Security Office Kim Tae-Hyo. The officials agreed that Poland and South Korea share views on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The undersecretary of state also visited the demilitarised zone which separates the two Korean states, where he talked with representatives of the UN forces and the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission. He also met with NGO experts who monitor the human rights situation in North Korea and the representatives of ASAN Institute for Policy Studies, a think tank. Before the War Memorial of Korea, Deputy Minister Przydacz paid tribute to the fallen during the Korean War.
