Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz visits Malaysia
15.07.2022
The last stops on the deputy foreign minister’s tour of South-East Asia were Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, the country’s administrative capital. The talks in Malaysia focused on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, disinformation by the Russian side, and Polish-Malaysian bilateral relations.
The meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Kamarudin bin Jaffar centred around global consequences of Russia’s aggression, including food security issues in South-East Asia. The deputy foreign ministers discussed plans concerning post-war recovery of Ukraine. Furthermore, the diplomats talked about bilateral issues, such as trade (including greater opening of the Malaysian market to Polish agri-food products), political cooperation, energy security, educational and scientific cooperation, as well as digitalisation and green technologies. The meeting also covered cooperation within international fora.
The deputy head of the Polish MFA met with representatives of Malaysian think tanks: the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) and The Centre. The meetings focused on regional and global issues, in particular Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Malaysia’s foreign policy priorities, and the growth potential of the bilateral economic cooperation.
