Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz visits Singapore

The deputy head of Polish diplomacy began the first part of his visit to South-East Asia by meeting with Singaporean politicians, experts in political science, and representatives of the local business circles. The talks in Singapore centred around Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, food security, disinformation, and the regional situation in Europe and the Indo-Pacific.
In their meeting, both the Polish deputy minister and Singapore’s Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development Sim Ann confirmed adherence to multilateralism and rules-based order, the continuance of which became even more imperative in the face of Russia’s aggressive acts. The two ministers talked about security in Europe, helping refugees and supporting Kyiv, and plans to rebuild Ukraine after the war. The situation in the Indo-Pacific and cooperation between that region and Europe was also on their agenda.
In a meeting with Minister of State in the Ministry of Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, Deputy Minister Przydacz discussed prospects for the development of bilateral trade and investment cooperation, especially in logistics, as well as the macroeconomic forecast for Central and Eastern Europe and current challenges for global economy. The talks involved agencies and organisations responsible for economic cooperation as well as business circles, focusing on food security, stability of supply chains, and development of economic resilience to external shocks. Deputy Minister Przydacz spoke with satisfaction about the growth in bilateral trade over the recent years and gave an assurance that Polish suppliers of goods and services to the Singaporean market can be relied on.
While in Singapore, Deputy Minister Przydacz also met with David Koh, Commissioner of Cybersecurity and Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, to exchange views on global challenges, including the aftermath of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on disinformation and cybersecurity. The deputy minister’s another meeting in Singapore was with members of Singapore-Poland and Singapore-Europe Parliamentary Friendship Groups. He also took part in a roundtable discussion with analysts, academics, and members of political science institutes, organised by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at the Nanyang Technological University.
