22.10.2024

On 22 October 2024, Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys met with Kerli Veski, Undersecretary for Legal and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys met with Kerli Veski, Undersecretary for Legal and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

The consultations focused on sanctions and immobilised Russian assets. The diplomats expressed satisfaction with the fact that Poland and Estonia speak with one voice on so many issues. The shared interests and similar positions on, among other things, security policy, support for embattled Ukraine, and sanctions translate into intensive and close cooperation, both bilaterally and as part of regional and international organisations.

In the face of the Russian war in Ukraine, the two sides agreed that it is necessary to continue the policy of sanctions and further coordinate on the use of immobilised Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine. Deputy Minister Mościcka-Dendys outlined the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union with regard to these issues. Also discussed was Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

Poland and Estonia agree on the need to hold Russia accountable for the crime of aggression and all crimes committed against or in Ukraine. The deputy ministers accordingly discussed establishing a tribunal for the crime of aggression.
