A third round of political consultations between Poland and Oman was held on 13 June, attended by Undersecretary of State at the Polish MFA Paweł Jabłoński and Undersecretary of State at the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al Harthy.
The topics discussed at the meeting included bilateral and regional issues of common interest to both countries. "Poland wants to develop good bilateral relations with the Sultanate of Oman. We have noticed that, despite the big potential of Poland and Oman, we still do not fully leverage the possibilities of cooperation between our countries in economic and international affairs", said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński during the talks with the deputy head of Oman's diplomacy.
During the consultations, the diplomats took stock of mutual political relations and discussed for deepening economic cooperation in defence, new technologies, agriculture, trade and transport. They also analysed the opportunities for extending the set of bilateral treaties. "We appreciate Oman's mediation role in rebuilding trust and peace in the Middle East and its involvement in supporting the peace process in Yemen", added Deputy Minister Jabłoński.
In the course of discussion, the parties declared willingness to increase tourist traffic between Poland and Oman so that both societies can get to know each other more easily. When it comes to culture, the politicians underlined their interest in joint promotion and protection of cultural heritage.
The meeting was also an opportunity to sign an agreement on visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports.
Russia's aggression against Ukraine was also on the agenda.
It was the third edition of political consultations between Poland and Oman at deputy ministers' level and the first hosted by Poland. The previous rounds took place in Muscat (2019) and online (2022).
