Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk travels to Slovakia

“Our today’s talks are an excellent opportunity to discuss current cooperation within the Visegrad Group, a format which is of great importance to Poland and Slovakia alike,” the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy said in Bratislava during a visit that was devoted to bilateral issues, cross-border infrastructure, and energy security.

As part of his trip, Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk held consultations with František Ružička, State Secretary for European Affairs at Slovakia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The interlocutors covered topical issues on the European agenda and discussed regional cooperation, paying special attention to the Slovak presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4). “Poland welcomes the very ambitious programme of Slovakia’s V4 presidency,” emphasized the Polish deputy foreign minister. Both sides also looked at matters related to the Three Seas Initiative and the Bucharest Nine, the latter of which is composed of countries on the eastern flank of NATO.

Another important topic on the deputy foreign ministers’ agenda was security and defence cooperation, especially in the context of Slovakia’s plans to modernize its armed forces.

While in Bratislava, Poland’s deputy foreign policy chief also attended a regional conference of the Polish ambassadors accredited in V4 countries.
