15.04.2025
The Warsaw Forum on EU–Indo-Pacific Cooperation, a two-day conference hosted by the University of Warsaw under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, just came to a close today. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his welcome address, MFA Secretary of State Władysław T. Bartoszewski listed important areas of cooperation between Europe and the Indo-Pacific, most of all on emerging technologies and disinformation-countering measures. Deputy Minister Bartoszewski noted that, despite different strategic priorities, cooperation and regular dialogue between our regions are key to ensuring a stable international order.
The Forum brought together diplomats and representatives of Asian and European universities, think tanks, and institutions that specialise in cooperation between the EU and the Indo-Pacific.
Panels addressed, among other things, countering hybrid threats as well as economic and energy security. Discussions led to drawing up policy recommendations for the European External Action Service ahead of the EU–Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, scheduled for the second half of 2025.
On the sidelines of the event, the MFA held a panel titled “Information manipulation: a common threat for Europe and Asia” featuring Katarzyna Szaran, acting director of the MFA Department for Strategic Communications and Countering Foreign Disinformation, Filip Grzegorzewski, head of Information Integrity at EEAS, Samir Saran, president of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), and Professor Ken Jimbo, managing director of the International House of Japan.
